The Submission Process
1Pre-Submission
- Select target journal (impact factor, scope, turnaround time)
- Read author guidelines completely
- Format manuscript according to journal requirements
- Prepare figures at required resolution
- Write cover letter
- Suggest/exclude reviewers if requested
2Submission
- Create account on journal submission system
- Upload manuscript and supplementary materials
- Enter author information and affiliations
- Complete disclosure forms and conflicts of interest
- Review PDF proof before final submission
- Confirm submission email received
3Peer Review
- Wait for editorial decision (typically 2-8 weeks)
- Respond promptly to any queries from editor
- If desk rejected, consider alternative journals
- If sent for review, expect 1-3 months
4Revision
- Read all reviewer comments carefully
- Create point-by-point response document
- Make all requested changes (or explain why not)
- Highlight changes in revised manuscript
- Submit revision within deadline
5Post-Acceptance
- Review proofs carefully
- Check author names, affiliations, figures
- Pay publication fees if applicable
- Share preprint/postprint per journal policy
